Buttermilk Pancakes

Buttermilk pancakes are tasty and easy to prepare.


  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • ½ cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup melted butter


Blend flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large sized bowl. In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, milk, eggs and melted butter. Just leave both the batters separately, till you are ready to cook the pancakes.

Next, warm a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat. To check whether the pan or griddle is ready sprinkle some water onto it. If it sizzles and small beads of water appear consider it ready for cooking the pancakes.

Blend both the batters together using a wooden spoon or fork till the ingredients have mixed well. The pancake batter should be smooth at the end. When the pancake batter is ready, pour ½ cup of the pancake batter onto the griddle or frying pan.

The buttermilk pancakes have to be cooked till both sides of the pancakes are brown in color. The time required for preparing the pancakes buttermilk is 15 minutes and the cooking time is 10 minutes. Therefore, the recipe for pancakes buttermilk requires a total of 25 minutes. These buttermilk pancakes recipes are sufficient for 12 people.
